Monday special - interview with A Make up Artist

How did you chose your profession?

As Banal as it sounds, i just followed voice of my heart and this love for make-up, products colors, and all the rest beauty things were growing since i was a child. At one point i understood that if i trust the authority and their belief about what is a serious and prestige job i have lost somewhere my true nature.  

So focusing on Make-up artistry for me was and still is spiritually therapeutic experience - as soon in my hands lands brushes i am in perfect harmony with myself. This is a job i want to do for the rest of my life. 

Is there any other profession you would like to do if you wouldn't be a Make-up Artist?

Parallel make-up scope at this moment i study as Style advisor  to widen my professional profile. Both these spheres compliments each other very well and additional knowledge opens bigger options. 

What do you like in your job?

contacts with different people chance to leave or put in something from me - emphasize and accentuate in each person the most beautiful they have. Even if i get to say just few words during the process i always feel special bond with this person cause at least for a moment he decided to trust me. No matter what person comes to me, as soon as i start to work there activates maternal feelings and for a moment this is person feels like one of mine. I like to see the spark in their eyes when they see process of change. These sparks are the best compliment for my work.

Who or what inspires you?

Love, Beauty and everything that i can be felt but can't be told in words .

What make-up brands you use in your job?

L’oreal Paris, Make Up For Ever, NYX, E.l.f., Beauties Factory u.c.

I all the time try out new products, follow news and i try to avoid from automatic denial of some make-up brand or trusting too much in one make-up brand just for it's name and brand. Before buying some products it is smart to read in the internet other specialists reviews for a certain product.

What is in your make-up bag?

Depends on the event . But the only product for personal use that i cary around every day is lip balm or lip gloss .

Product/s you can't live without.

“Oriflame” corrective pencil with tee tree extract , “Avon”  eyebrow pencil for blondes and lip balm. 

Produkts/i ar Negatīvu pieredzi.

For one moment i had  Christian  Dior lipstick  – unpleasantly surprised that this product almost don't resistance. this is a good example that loud and expensive name doesn't mean that it is effective. 

As well i had negative with several mae-up bases from them more badness then benefits. 

Dream in your professional career?

I don't have certain ambitions or goals, cause i already do what i want. Now in fron of me is a long way of gathering experience , independent cultivation and enjoying it all. I like what i do and thats why each work experience i  perceive as a chance to consummate  myself, learn from mistakes and to fell it all more nuanced. After some years i could open my own school - but for now it's just an abstract idea.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career? 

Usually the biggest challenges are related with quite big workload and limited time .If for 6 people you have less than 2 hours then i have to sweat a bit. 

And painting kid faces in party's always is a challenge - usually there is loads of them - they speak all the time, moves all the time asks questions that you try to figure out next few days.

Fun things you can tell from your work?

At the same party for kids i painted " Art" on his face and he possibly was thinking about something and he just robbed everything of with one beautiful wipe.

As big professional you think you are continue to improve and to learn - attend master classes, rise your qualification, read books, watch videos, analyze pictures, experiment . Today there are so many options. 

And keep improving not only technical skills but yourself as a personality as well, cause this makes our  job unique and your personality is what makes people came back to you and work with you again and again. 

What else - learn languages ( if you don't know them yet)  Latvians - Russian , Russians - Latvian. Big amount of job opportunities are lost because of a language barrier.
